Communications

The purpose of Communication Department is to pass information to the people on their concerns, to maintain the stability and identity of the church, and also to change people’s behavior in to their desirable direction of Gods ways. It also mirrors the vision and mission of the Church.

Communications Department was conceived from the Biblical context in Mathew 28:19-20 and it operates from it.
Established

Communications Department was established in 1994 by a resolution of the 1994 Annual Conference which was held at Kaaga Girls High School, Meru.

Mr. John Muriungi was appointed as the 1st Communication Coordinator in 1995. Later on in 2013 Emma Mueni succeeded him.

The department maintains the image of  Methodist Church in Kenya, including  all MCK written, oral and visual communication.

Communication department has been managing the MCK website and recently it opened a Facebook fan page and YouTube channel which helps in communicating with people from over the world.

The department also helps in enhancing good relationship of the MCK and the Media making sure that they have a positive coverage.

It has also been recording video clips of some of the Church’s key activities, including Annual Conferences, ordination of ministers and induction of bishops. This material are available for research purposes and forms part of our archival work.

The department has been responsible for press liaison, public relations, writing projects, representation of the Church to various meetings including those of the Kenya Church, and special duties assigned from time to time by the Presiding Bishop.

Our plans

Communication department is in the process of establishing a Broadcasting Radio station, which is intending to start before August 2014 and it shall broadcast online so as to enable us reach people from all over. We also have plans of establishing a Television station before the end of 5 years. It also intends to revive the publication of Methodist Magazine on Quarterly basis. This will enable us achieve our vision of making Christ known all over the country and outside
